This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a Title I school located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Many of our students face economic, social and emotional obstacles that are very challenging, and yet our students come to school daily ready and willing to learn.
Against all the odds that they face, our students come to school with the goal of achieving at high levels, and we, as teachers, hold them to these high expectations. With the right opportunities and resources, there is nothing my students won't achieve.
My Project
The art center is a place where students can go to express themselves and their understandings creatively. Students can learn and develop skills in language and literacy through art and that is exactly what I hope to provide for my kids.
Every child is an artist!
Student in my class with will be able to use mixed media to demonstrate their learning. As we learn about Hispanic culture, we will be able to paint, draw, color, create and replicate the beautiful art of the culture. We all know that students learn by doing and having an art center with a variety of materials is SUPER important.
As their Spanish teacher, I want my students to understand far more than grammar rules. I want them to understand the culture. No language study is complete without a study of the culture from which it comes. A centerpiece in every culture is ART!
