Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you know all about the life, style and works of the great artists? We are very interested in learning about great artists and their works, with the hopes that we might also reproduce art in the same style.
At our school, we have 2 different art shows to participate in: the school-wide Spring art show and the district-wide Special Day Class art show.
My enthusiastic and creative group of 16 SDC students are determined to produce gallery quality works of art, submitting their masterpieces in one or both of these shows!
In today's schools, the focus has been shifted away from the creative arts curriculum. Unfortunately, there are not teachers who specifically instruct and inspire students to create and express themselves with music, dance, theater and visual arts. I grew up with experiences in these subjects that have shaped my personality and preferences as I have grown up. I learned to play musical instruments, draw and paint and to express myself as a creative being.
For children who have disabilities, the creative arts are a highly effective arena for developing motor, speech, social and academic skills. Some people learn best when the material involves as many senses as it can.
This is definitely the case for all of my students. They learn most effectively when facts are reinforced with movement, visual, tactile and auditory input. This multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning takes a lot of planning and a lot of cash to back it up. These are things I desperately try to acquire, whenever the funding permits, but it is never enough for those hungry minds, waiting to be fed more music, art and drama!
Please assist me in providing my wonderful class the materials that can instruct us on technique, history and biography of some of the greatest artists of the past. We want to learn about the Masters and re-create their works in different ways! For fine motor, problem solving and visual learning, we would like to request a set of beginner's level puzzles, depicting the art of Van Gogh, Seurat and Cezanne. For art instruction and historical background on some of the Masters, we would like to ask for a set of 5 resource packs, covering Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Cezanne and Van Gogh.
