This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our preschool students are three, four, and five years old. They're hard working, active, and excited to learn new things. They like to play, sing songs, and listen to stories. More than half of my students are from low income households. Many of them are from single parent homes. Our school is a Title 1, public, inner-city school. One hundred percent of the students receive free or reduced price lunch. Our schools resources are very limited. However, I strive to provide a supportive learning environment that has enrichment materials to foster their growth and love for learning!
My Project
Early literacy and math concepts are major components in my classroom. A large portion of our day is dedicated to developing literacy and math skills. Some of the skills taught in preschool include alphabet identification, phonemic awareness, shape and color identification, sorting, and counting. My students need a variety of materials to practice and improve these skills. However, the resources we have are limited.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' literacy and math development.
They will practice letter identification with Float & Find Alphabet Bubbles. They will strengthen their sorting skills with Super Sorting Pie. All of the resources requested in this project will support my students' academic achievement and their desire to learn.
