  • Using Graphic Novels to Teach Narrative Non-Fiction

    Funded Jun 4, 2014

I would like to sincerely thank you all for supporting my classroom in giving students brand new books to read. Our classroom lending library has become a vital part of students' exploration of literature, and your donations give these young people a chance to experience new genres of book they might not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy.

Our school's media center has been without regular funding for the past five years, and they do not focus on specific mediums like graphic literature. Donations like yours enable students to fully immerse themselves in the world of literature. We thank you so much for your consideration of public education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Pearce

  • Google Chromebook For High Need Classroom!

    Funded Feb 12, 2013

Thank you so much for your support of new technologies in my classroom. The addition of a Google Chromebook has opened up so many new avenues for my students and they are so grateful. We are currently engaged in an intense project studying William Shakespeare. Having a Chromebook in class has allowed students the opportunity to supplement their reading with research.

Your contribution to my classroom has given these kids new opportunities they otherwise would not have had. I thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Shed Light On Bullying Solutions With Camera (ABC Family)

    Funded Feb 17, 2012

This letter is intended a small "thank you" for your generous donation of an easy-to-use Flip camera to our classroom. Projects such as these are often difficult to secure funding for but with your helpful assistance, I know students this year and many years from now will have the benefit of this exciting new technology as a constant part of their curriculum. Already, the camera has been employed in securing interviews for future use in classes.

Your donation has made a great difference in the lives of many young people.”

  • Making Comics to Create Awareness of Bullying! (ABC Family)

    Funded Feb 3, 2012

When my students and I first conceived the idea of creating a comic book/zine about bullying, we had many questions about how we would find the resources to produce such a product. Thanks to your donations, those questions have been answered! We have been able to use the professional art materials to begin work on a short comic featuring the causes of and potential solution to the problem of bullying in high schools.

It's so exciting to see students passionate about art using their skills to communicate sound moral messages through that art. Your donation made that possible and you have our thanks.”

  • College Bound Students Need New Reading Opportunities!

    Funded Dec 13, 2011

Many thanks to all the donors out there who helped so generously to supply my classroom lending library with new reading materials. While my classes are full of excited and enthusiastic readers, our school's media center has been without funding for the past five years. This means that students often do not have access to brand new books or marginalized genres. With your assistance, many years' worth of young learners will be able to experience the joys of picking up a good book thanks to your generosity. Many thanks!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Pearce
