These books have given my students the opportunity to apply the phonics skills we are learning in class to real books that they can actually read themselves. One of my favorite moments has been watching a student who was hesitant to read aloud pick up a book, sound out the words, and realize, \"I can read this!\" The confidence that comes from successfully decoding an entire book is so meaningful for beginning readers.\r\n\r\nWhen the books first arrived, my students were excited to look through them and immediately wanted to choose their own books to read. They loved having books that felt accessible to them while still giving them a chance to practice the skills we have been working so hard on. We are continuing to build our phonics skills and will keep using these books to practice decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Our next step is to continue moving from reading words one at a time to reading complete sentences and stories more smoothly and confidently. Thank you for helping put books in my students' hands that allow them to experience the joy and confidence of being successful readers!","fullyFundedDate":1778061977908,"projectUrl":"project/science-of-reading-in-action-decodable/10138456/","projectTitle":"Science of Reading in Action: Decodable Texts for Young Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dhein","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6308689_orig.jpg?crop=416,416,x233,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1701145640699","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6308689"},{"teacherId":10503278,"projectId":10275671,"letterContent":"Your generous donation will help students keep reading over the summer.
