Seeing their faces light up as they unboxed our new supplies was an unforgettable moment, and that excitement has already translated into remarkable growth in our daily routine. The students were especially thrilled to assemble the wheeled stools themselves, which gave them an immediate sense of pride and ownership over their new learning space.\r\n\r\nThe materials you provided are making an immediate impact on our classroom community. The new fidgets and puzzles give students sensory outlets to self-regulate and reset during challenging moments, while the workbooks and books are inspiring deeper engagement and a sense of identity. Most importantly, the wheeled stools have revolutionized our flexible seating options, allowing students to move naturally while staying focused on their work. Every item has played a vital role in building a serene, accommodating atmosphere where learning can thrive.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our vision and for directly empowering these incredible students to feel calm, confident, and capable every time they walk through our door.","fullyFundedDate":1780584796433,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calm-confident-classroom/10177825/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calm, Confident Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Asten","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10399279"},{"teacherId":9901715,"projectId":10183339,"letterContent":"my students were able to find more connection with these books. The books I currently have don't fit all of there interests, which was why I wanted to get these books, which include sports, cats, the Wizard of Oz, Cybermobbing, and others that meet the needs of my students. \r\n\r\nMoreover, these books are right at their levels. I have conducted surveys before getting these books, to see if their reading confidence grows, and this week (albeit this is also the fifth week of doing this), of my 10 students, all of them rated their confidence as a 3, 4, or 5 out of 5. This exhibits the most confidence they have ever had in reading. I think that is attributed to these books that are more suited for lower levels of German, and written for non-native speakers. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, I have started to do silent sustained reading every Monday for 15 minutes, to give kids a chance to put their learning to work and figure out what the words they have learned mean in context. My ultimate goal is to give them a sense of satisfaction- that they feel they can already start understanding and comprehending German without even leaving the classroom. This will boost their confidence to speak and write in German.
