When students first saw the new building materials like LEGOs and Magna-Tiles, the room immediately filled with cheers, curiosity, and creativity. Students eagerly began collaborating, designing, and problem-solving together in ways that naturally strengthened teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills. We have already used the materials during STEM challenges where students worked in groups to design sturdy structures, create models connected to our science lessons, and test different building strategies. One especially memorable moment was watching students redesign and improve their creations after discovering weaknesses in their first attempts — they were so engaged that they didn't want to stop working when class ended. The organizational tools, including the magnetic shelves and Chromebook storage, have also helped create a more functional and organized classroom space where students can access materials more independently and efficiently. As we move forward, students will continue using these resources during collaborative STEM activities, engineering challenges, and hands-on projects connected to our science and social studies curriculum. Your generosity has helped create a classroom environment where students feel excited to learn, explore, and create every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1746458903974,"projectUrl":"project/odds-ends-for-building-organization/9114165/","projectTitle":"Odds & Ends for Building & Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mankiewicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5381052_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1526054749392","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-johnson5"},{"teacherId":5381052,"projectId":9412642,"letterContent":"The new books from this project have completely energized reading time in our classroom. Students were immediately excited to dive into the pick-your-own-path stories because they are interactive, engaging, and allow readers to make choices that impact the outcome of the story. These books have helped students strengthen important reading skills such as comprehension, predicting, inferencing, problem-solving, and understanding cause and effect. Because students must think carefully about the choices they make throughout the story, they are practicing critical thinking skills in a fun and meaningful way. We have also been able to use these texts to model perseverance and flexible thinking, since students often go back to reread sections and try different story paths.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active, collaborative, and student-centered. During independent reading time, students spread out around the room with books they are genuinely excited about. Some students read quietly on their own while others eagerly discuss the different choices and endings they discovered with classmates. Small groups gather to compare story paths, debate which choices were best, and recommend books to one another. The excitement these books have created has helped even some of our more reluctant readers become more engaged and willing to spend longer periods of time reading.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled to stay interested in books have become some of the most enthusiastic readers in the room. One student in particular now rushes in each morning asking if there is time to continue reading before the school day officially begins. Another student, who often found reading challenging, has gained confidence because the interactive format motivates them to keep going and reread when needed. It has been wonderful to watch students feel empowered as readers while building important literacy skills at the same time. Your generosity has helped create a classroom filled with curiosity, excitement, and a genuine love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1755689430359,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-books-and-classroom-decor/9412642/","projectTitle":"Interactive Books and Classroom Decor","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mankiewicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5381052_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1526054749392","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-johnson5"},{"teacherId":4603387,"projectId":10068298,"letterContent":"My students are already loving and appreciating the hands-on learning that these manipulatives have offered for fractions! Your support has transformed our classroom into a space of discovery and wonder. When the light table sensory cover arrived, students' eyes lit up! Within minutes, they were exploring the math trays, manipulating shapes and patterns, discovering mathematical concepts through play, exploring the alphabet, building words and engaging in sensory play. \r\nThe light table has become a high interest Free Choice Play Area, where students explore counting, sorting, patterns, and letter formation in ways that feel like play rather than instruction. The sensory cylinders have been particularly valuable for our younger learners, who are building fine motor skills and learning to focus their attention. What excites me most is how these tools have made learning accessible to all our students—regardless of learning style or ability level, every child finds something engaging at the light table.\r\nLooking ahead, I'm planning to expand our sensory light table explorations into a unit on color mixing and light properties, where students will experiment with transparent objects and observe how light interacts with different materials. As a grade level team we share our resources so the light table opportunities not only benefit my classroom but will also be shared with the other 4K classrooms reaching 100+ students in our learning community.\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their growth. Our new sensory tools have quickly become an embedded part of our daily classroom routines. Students are using the vibration plate, wall-mounted bubble tube, hammock chair, and fidgets/tactile tools as part of structured sensory breaks and individualized regulation plans. One meaningful moment occurred during a small group writing lesson. A student who typically struggles to remain seated and engaged was able to use the vibration plate for a brief sensory input break before returning to the table. Afterward, they completed their writing task with improved focus and stamina. In another classroom, students use the bubble tube as part of a calming corner routine, practicing deep breathing while watching the changing lights—turning regulation into a teachable, shared strategy rather than a reactive support.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students (and staff!) were thrilled. There was genuine excitement and curiosity as they explored the new options. The hammock chair quickly became a favorite, with students describing it as \"cozy\" and \"calming.\" Beyond the excitement, it was powerful to see students begin to identify which tools helped their bodies feel \"ready to learn.\" Staff have also shared that students are increasingly requesting sensory supports independently, showing growth in self-awareness and self-advocacy skills.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve continuing to build students' ability to independently select and use sensory strategies within classroom projects. During upcoming literacy and fine motor centers, students will practice identifying when they need movement or calming input and choosing a tool that supports their participation. We are also working with teachers to incorporate more whole-class regulation moments, such as brief movement breaks or calming routines using the bubble tube area. These resources are helping us move beyond simply providing tools—they are supporting long-term skills in self-regulation, communication, and readiness for learning.","fullyFundedDate":1768498973388,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-supports-for-successful-students/9710358/","projectTitle":"Sensory Supports for Successful Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Henderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10258270_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758206997068","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10258270"},{"teacherId":5381106,"projectId":9833077,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom.
