By the time this project was funded, the hoops we had selected were no longer available. It was a back and forth ordeal for a few months. We did get some hoops, but they weren't indoor quality. Instead, we will be using these outdoors in our playground area (which is still a great thing!). And because the hoops were much less expensive, we were able to get several basketballs as well. Because winter is here, the hoops will be put together and ready for use in the spring (so no pictures of the actual hoops in use at this time, sorry). On a fun note, the backboards are of our favorite hometown team, the Milwaukee Bucks. We do appreciate getting these hoops and balls, even if it wasn't for our original purpose, as the kids will still benefit from having the opportunity to shoot some hoops at recess. So it took me a while to get unpacked and to reorganize our spare clothing cabinet (since I had an office to get set up and unpacked, bulletin boards to be re-done, etc).\r\n\r\nBut we are getting there! I've already gone through 5-6 spare pants every week since the start of school- lots of accidents this year! The Spanish flash cards have added a vibrant, visual element to our bilingual learning time, helping students connect pictures with words and build their vocabulary in both English and Spanish.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments was during a small-group reading center when students used the sentence strips to build complete sentences on our magnetic board. They worked together, laughing as they tried different word combinations, and proudly read their sentences aloud to the class.
