Some students who weren't interested in our previous selection have picked up the new books and started reading. Seeing them find stories that capture their attention has been one of the most rewarding outcomes of this project. We have even created our own points system to reward students for reading and celebrate their progress!\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, students read independently and discuss and write about texts. These books give us opportunities to practice making inferences, analyzing characters, identifying themes, and supporting ideas with evidence. They also help students explore different perspectives and connect stories to their own lives.\r\n\r\nThe Apple Pencil has also helped tremendously during instruction. I can now annotate the same packets students are working on and display my notes and answers on the classroom screen. Students can follow along as I model how to examine a passage, identify evidence, and develop a response. Instead of turning my back to write on the board, I can stay facing my scholars, monitor their understanding, and respond to their questions.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing tools that make reading more inviting and instruction easier to follow. Clean up time is always best, they are able to sanitize their areas before exiting to their next destination. \r\n\r\nThe sound proofing headphones allow our friends who are sensitive to noise still have access to our everyday learning experience and be comfortable in it. They are easily accessible and comfortable enough for them to wear throughout class. We are a charter public school and funds are low when it comes to extras in our classroom.\r\n\r\nYou generous donation put some of the biggest smiles on my scholars faces as they were able to have books that they enjoy reading, books that have characters that look like them and books that they can read over and over again. The impact was enormous due to them being able to share their reading with their buddie class. To have enjoyable reading materials that they can relate to and get excited about reading is amazing. \r\n\r\nI had boys reading more than the girls with the graphic novels, making the noises and acting out some of the parts of the book.
