Both series are highly popular with students and provide unique benefits that support literacy development in different ways. \r\n\r\nThe I Survived series, written by Lauren Tarshis, brings important historical events to life through the eyes of young characters. These books help students better understand major moments in history, such as the sinking of the Titanic, the attacks of September 11, and Hurricane Katrina. The stories are exciting and emotional, which helps readers connect to the past in a personal and meaningful way and are written at a level that is accessible for elementary students\r\n\r\nThe Goosebumps series by R.L. Stine are spooky, suspenseful stories that are helpful for students who may not usually enjoy reading, encouraging kids to keep reading and stay engaged. \r\n\r\nMany reluctant readers find their confidence through these books, and once they enjoy one title, they often return for more.
