My students were so excited when the boxes started arriving. As soon as they saw a new box, they wanted to know what was inside and were eager to help me open it. They helped unpack everything, sort the snacks, and find places to organize them in our classroom. They kept commenting on how many snacks there were and how cool it was to have so many different choices. Of course, there was also plenty of discussion about which snacks were going to be their favorites!\r\n\r\nWhat really surprised my students was learning where all of the snacks came from. When I explained that people they didn't even know had donated money to help buy snacks for our classroom, they couldn't believe it. They asked questions like, \"They bought these for us?\" and \"They don't even know us?\" It was really sweet to see their reactions. They were excited about the snacks, but they were also genuinely amazed that people they had never met cared enough about them to help. It gave us a wonderful opportunity to talk about kindness, generosity, and helping others.\r\n\r\nNow, when a student is hungry, they know they have a variety of snacks available to help them refuel and get back to learning. As we continue through the school year, my students will be working hard toward their individual goals in reading, writing, math, and beyond.
