The new headphones with microphones have truly transformed how my students approach learning and self-expression. Many of our students have a huge capacity for ideas but often struggle with the mechanics of writing. Now, with the microphones, they are empowered to use voice typing, allowing them to access complex concepts and web pages that were previously beyond their independent reading level. This technology has helped my students focus on high-level comprehension and detailed content creation instead of getting bogged down by keyboarding or decoding.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the combination of sound quality and the ability to create truly detailed writing projects. The noise isolation allows them to work independently and concentrate better, while the clear microphone lets their voices and ideas come through with precision. One student, who is usually hesitant to participate in whole-group writing, has completely warmed up to this technology; they are now creating the most elaborate stories I've ever seen, all because they can speak their thoughts directly onto the page. Your gift has not just given them a tool—it has given them a powerful voice and the ability to confidently share their brilliant ideas with the world.","fullyFundedDate":1760632973639,"projectUrl":"project/finding-our-voices-headphones-with-micr/9714969/","projectTitle":"Finding Our Voices: Headphones With Microphones for Student Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Czarnecki","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10034643_orig.png?crop=366,366,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757014226569","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-czarsclass"},{"teacherId":10034643,"projectId":9684003,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity! Because of your support, my classroom has been completely transformed with the new sensory resources for our \"No More Meltdowns\" project. The students were absolutely thrilled when the materials arrived, especially the trampoline and balance boards—they were wide-eyed with excitement to see tools that help them move their bodies safely. The new weighted blankets and sensory lights immediately made our quiet corner feel like a true calm-down space. We are using these resources every single day to proactively manage big feelings and refocus on learning.\r\n\r\nA specific moment that highlights the impact was during a difficult transition last week. One of my students, who often struggles to transition from a preferred activity, was heading toward a meltdown. Instead of escalating, they chose to spend five minutes using the balance board to regulate their energy, followed by sitting with a weighted blanket under the sensory lights. This simple shift allowed them to return to the group calm, regulated, and ready to learn, avoiding a disruptive episode entirely. This project has not only reduced the frequency of classroom disruptions but has also taught my students invaluable self-regulation skills they can use for a lifetime.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve integrating these tools even more seamlessly into our daily routine. We are currently working on a classroom lesson where each student is creating their own \"My Calm-Down Plan\" using pictures of the new tools to visually communicate what they need when they feel big emotions starting to surface. Thank you again for giving my students the gift of emotional regulation. I had received this idea from a colleague about having my students reflect on their own work for parent teacher conferences. I introduced the idea to my students and they loved the opportunity to showcase their work. I started out with giving the students pieces of the work they've done so far in 5th grade and had them add them to their portfolio. They slid their work into the sheet protectors and then were given a note card for each piece in their portfolio. On this note card, students were asked to reflect on their work-what they did well or what they could improve on. These note cards were then included in the sheet protectors with the students' piece of work. At parent teacher conferences, the students led their own conference as they shared with their parents their portfolio and their reflections. This is a great way to get students to think about the work they've done in class and how they can do better. All pieces were given to their parents at conferences, freeing up the protector sheets for more work to reflect on during the course of the school year. These portfolios will be reused year after year.\r\nWith gratitude,\r\nMrs. Johnson","fullyFundedDate":1754829825960,"projectUrl":"project/outstanding-work/9256223/","projectTitle":"Outstanding Work","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5321386"},{"teacherId":9644345,"projectId":9266585,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for everything you did for my classroom .
