The magnetic sets have also become a classroom favorite as students experiment with what sticks together, what moves, and how they can use the materials to build and create. These activities have turned everyday science concepts into exciting, hands-on discoveries.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students are developing a love of learning while practicing important skills such as observing, problem-solving, communicating their ideas, and working together. One of those items was the dome you see in the pictures.\r\n\r\nEvery year, I put together a Ninja Warrior Course for my students, and the dome has been such a great new addition! The students absolutely love it. They are able to climb over, around, and through it, which gives them a great opportunity to be brave, take risks, and challenge themselves at a level they are comfortable with.\r\n\r\nIt has been so much fun watching the students encourage each other and try things they may not have thought they could do. These activities give students a fun and engaging way to practice following directions, moving their bodies safely, focusing their brains, and getting ready to learn. We use the materials as a brain break and as a transition into more focused classroom work.\r\n\r\nOne special classroom moment was seeing the students use their glow sticks while following along with a Danny Go! movement video. They were excited to copy the movements, listen carefully for directions, and keep their bodies moving in a safe space. It was wonderful to see students who sometimes have difficulty sitting and focusing become fully engaged in the activity. After moving, they were able to settle back down and transition into our next lesson with more focus.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the glow foam sticks, they were immediately excited! The bright colors and the opportunity to use them during our movement activities made the experience feel special. They couldn't wait to get started, and their excitement turned into motivation to listen carefully and follow the directions so they could participate successfully.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using the glow sticks as part of our daily movement and learning routines. We are working on building students' ability to listen, follow multiple-step directions, control their bodies, and transition from active movement to quiet learning. These are important skills for our young learners, and the glow sticks have made practicing them fun and meaningful. I met with many families as their child finished fourth grade and prepared to head to the middle school in fall. At each of those meetings, I offered the book. There were so many grateful parents! As an extension of this book, I am going to be doing a book club where we will be reading the companion book, \"The Awesome Generation.\" \r\n\r\nWe are in the midst of a youth mental health crisis in our state and nation. It's overwhelming to think about how we will change the trajectory of anxiety and depression rates. Then I remind myself, that we can do the little things to spread positive change, such as educating parents who ultimately have the most influence on screen and social media consumption of our kids. \r\n\r\nThank you for partnering with our families and me.
