The calculators have transformed the way I can teach math to these students who typically feel unprepared, incapable, or too slow to participate in the math classroom. And, they have transformed the way my students feel about their ability to move past arithmetic and get into Algebra.\r\n\r\nThe calculators have large screens that allow students to enter multiple lines of work, which gives them the ability to compare answers and try different operations. They can see that 10 to the power of 3 comes up with the same answer as 10x10x10. They can see that answers are reasonable or unreasonable, and they can even go back and make changes to entries. My students often come to school hungry, tired, and without necessary supplies. It feels amazing to hand my kids a high-quality calculator to do work - it makes them feel like they belong. \r\nI am so grateful for you. I have one 6th grader who is so excited to use the calculators each day. He likes to calculate how much money he will make each week depending on his hourly rate of pay. I tell my kids...\"Math is Money.\" If we know math, we can earn more money some day.","fullyFundedDate":1756387063836,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-experience-math-through/9646727/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Experience Math Through Creativity and Hands-On Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fisher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10221137"},{"teacherId":10229987,"projectId":9660901,"letterContent":"This year has been a very difficult one due to budget cuts.
