I was initially simply hoping to have some children's books to create a safe place for my high schoolers to launch into a conversation about SEL and the various tools and applications we'd been learning about in class. But we've also developed a partnership with a nearby elementary school where our students head over to read to the elementary students.\r\n\r\nThis has not only been a huge hit with students and staff alike, but the books that you helped me acquire have been a regular request. The elementary teachers don't need to purchase additional books for their classroom libraries, but still benefit from the stories being read to their students. And our students have the chance to choose a book that speaks to them, while also guiding the elementary students into a deeper level of SEL. \r\n\r\nThank you for equipping my classroom and school with these books to support so many aspects of my students' growth.","fullyFundedDate":1703738148995,"projectUrl":"project/lets-grow-together-building-growth-min/7817391/","projectTitle":"Let's Grow Together- Building Growth Mindset Through Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Macduff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3629692_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1465077701091","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/trevor-macduff"},{"teacherId":3629692,"projectId":7304241,"letterContent":"Every student has a voice; the challenge is getting them to find it and use it for good. In today's digital world, podcasts are ubiquitous. Students know they exist, but the barrier is finding the tools to give them for the process.\r\n\r\nYour generosity and support gave us a very manageable set of podcasting tools for students to record their songs and stories. Instead of struggling with the offensive pencil or misspelled word, they could speak, respeak, and edit out gaffs through a new medium that allows for a wider audience.\r\n\r\nOur students wrote songs, shared poetry, interviewed community leaders, and presented essays, all without an audience, which makes them nervous. Then only their final presentation saw the light of day.\r\n\r\nWe continue to use these in so many creative ways across our entire campus.
