The blue bins for Las Orcas and the green bins for Los Lobos are used to organize math books and writing notebooks, helping students independently access their materials and smoothly transition between activities. One meaningful moment occurred during math centers, when students confidently went to their group bins, gathered their materials, and immediately began working in Spanish, allowing more time for learning and collaboration.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were excited and proud to have a space designated for their group, which strengthened their sense of belonging and responsibility within our dual language community. Moving forward, students will continue using these organizers as we deepen our work in math problem-solving and writing in Spanish. These materials will support greater independence, focus, and collaboration as students take increasing ownership of their learning and grow as bilingual learners.","fullyFundedDate":1759251509880,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-organize-learning/9662720/","projectTitle":"Help Us Organize Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Meastra Nicolet","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9679982_orig.jpg?crop=699,699,x0,y6&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755737797140","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9679982"},{"teacherId":9679982,"projectId":9635133,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, my students are now using number bonds, a number line, and a hands-on addition and subtraction Jenga game during our math centers. Students use number bonds to break apart and build numbers, the number line to visualize counting and operations, and the Jenga game to practice addition and subtraction in a fun, low-pressure way while collaborating with peers.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. They were eager to explore, touch, and try everything right away. Many students said math felt like a game, and even students who usually feel unsure about math were confident and motivated to participate.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for my students include using these tools to deepen their understanding of addition and subtraction strategies, explain their thinking, and make connections between concrete tools and abstract math concepts. We had a fancy showcase in each class where they could share their learning with others, and they were so proud!\r\n\r\n4th graders, in particular, are very excited to come back to school in January because we'll begin our full ukulele unit then. Students will learn to tune their instruments, get to know each string, practice strumming patterns, and learn various chords. Students will get to learn heritage songs, like Cielito Lindo, as well as preferred pop songs.\r\n\r\nThe ukuleles arrived in a giant box that was so, so exciting to open together.
