When I shared with the students someone chose our class to make a donation to provide this item the students were ecstatic. I wish you could have seen their face and felt the excitement they had even before the item arrived in the mail. \r\n\r\nThe rug arrived in August before our students returned to school. It was such an exciting time to unroll the rug and realize the amazing difference your generous donation made in our teaching space. Our colleagues all complimented our rug and expressed what a difference it made in our room. It really made it inviting and brightened up our space. \r\n\r\nOnce the students started school they were thrilled with the NEW RUG in our classroom. Each student commented on their favorite section of the rug. This rug was also purchased to help develop language with our English Language learners. The beautiful pictures help our students to say words and use words in sentence to express facts they know about the weather, seasons, or calendar words. The comfortable rug is a great place for students to be more relaxed while using clipboards to complete work. Since the rug is large the students have the opportunity to sit on different parts of the rug each day which they all love. \r\n\r\n\r\nYour donations provided a comfortable rug that our students will use every day and will continue to use for many years. It will be exciting to see the progression over the years in how this rug is beneficial to our students. In the primary grades the students may start out only being able to point to pictures using no words, as they develop more language students will point to pictures and identify them in English and eventually students will begin to say sentences about items on the rug, use English to describe weather that has happened earlier in the day, as well as, express what they know about the seasons. This rug is truly such a wonderful gift for the students at our school. The games have become a bridge for meaningful conversations about respect, perseverance, and accountability which are skills our young men are practicing in real time. Students were very excited with wide smiles and immediate curiosity when they saw the new materials. They couldn't wait to try everything out. Thanks to you, the next steps for our students include using these materials to support their ongoing relationship with their mentor. Since our project was fully funded, we've wasted no time putting the new materials to work, and the energy in our fourth-grade room has completely transformed. It has been thrilling to watch the students immediately dive into using the tic-tac-toe game for quick, friendly challenges, and the conversations happening around the game are already helping students practice great turn-taking and sportsmanship. Thank you for making this immediate, positive change possible!\r\n\r\nThe biggest visible difference your donation made is the complete overhaul of our learning space. The new stackable stools have been a huge hit! The students cheered when they realized we now have more than enough stools for every person at our small group tables. This has allowed us to implement flexible seating with ease, giving the kids a choice about where they work and making our group collaboration time so much more focused and comfortable. Being able to easily move the stools to create different learning zones for group projects versus independent study has made our classroom a truly dynamic, flexible environment—something we couldn't achieve before your support.\r\n\r\nFinally, the construction paper is already being used to bring our curriculum to life! Just last week, we used it to create detailed models of the rock cycle for Science and build 3D historical maps for our Virginia Studies unit. These hands-on, creative projects are making history and scientific concepts truly stick, replacing static worksheets with engaging, tactile learning.
