This project provided our library with a large water jug dispenser and cups - resources that have made an immediate and lasting difference for our 515 students who visit the library every week. As a Title I school, we often have to stretch every resource, and something as basic as clean, accessible drinking water can make a huge impact on student well-being and learning.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, our school faced an ongoing challenge: the water fountains throughout the building were often malfunctioning or completely out of order. Students would come to the library - sometimes right after recess or specials - hot, tired, and thirsty. Without a reliable water source nearby, they were distracted, uncomfortable, and often unable to focus on reading or participating in library lessons. Having to deny a student something as simple as a drink of water never sat right with me, and it was clear that this issue was affecting our learning environment.\r\n\r\nNow, thanks to this project, our new water jug and cup station has become a beloved fixture in the library. Students know that when they come in for their weekly library time, they can get a clean cup of cold water before sitting down with their books or joining a lesson.
