Flexible seating has given my students the opportunities to actively participate in learning activities while meeting their sensory needs. The spinning fish chair is a frequent choice during centers and some students are calmer after a spin or two+\r\n During large group activities, my students are able to choose the type of seating they would like to sit in. This gives them ability to recognize their sensory needs. Some days, students may choose a rocker and others a typical cube chair. \r\n I have seen more participation and focus on activities. Student behaviors have improved. None of this would have been possible without your donation. We have an area where the students can manipulate them on the wall. However, I have found that they love the play with them on the floor where they can walk on them and feel the various textures. \r\n Some of my students like to go to the wall and just feel each mat. It gives some a sense of calm and it provides sensory input. Others really love putting them together like a puzzle on the floor. This is a great activity that helps them to calm and focus. They even work together to create unique shapes or paths with the mats!\r\n Thank you so much for donating to our classroom and giving my students new experiences.
