In our second grade classroom, I try to offer different types of reading material to support a print rich environment. I am constantly looking for various experiences to get my students excited to read. I feel that a Listening Center would offer my students such an experience. A Listening Center in our classroom will be a wonderful tool to further enhance my students’ love for reading. Everyone learns differently. To listen to and follow along with a book will be a new and different experience for my students. It may even be the key to unlock their success as a beginning reader! There are times that students work independently or in a small group of students. This Listening Center is ideal for this type of environment. The students will get to listen to quality books and share this experience with their peers. What a great way to learn!
