Because of you, our students now have access to a 3D printer and filament that are transforming the way they learn, create, and problem-solve.\r\n\r\nThis project has brought STEM learning to life in ways that textbooks alone never could. Students are not only learning about design and engineering concepts, but they are also applying critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance as they bring their ideas from digital models into real, physical objects. Watching their excitement as their designs come to life layer by layer has been incredible.\r\n\r\nThrough this experience, students have developed skills in 3D modeling, collaboration, and iterative design. They've learned that mistakes are part of the process and that improvement comes from testing, refining, and trying again. These are skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your support has inspired confidence. Students who may not have seen themselves as \"tech-savvy\" are now proudly sharing their creations and taking ownership of their learning. The sense of accomplishment they feel is truly powerful.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students' futures and for making hands-on STEM learning possible. I travel to three different schools each week to provide mental health therapy to students in elementary school. When I first started all I had was a deck of cards and Uno. It has been a challenge to be able to provide quality therapy with such limited resources. Play therapy is practically essential with this age range and as I accumulated things from thrift stores and other second places I still had to travel with it every day and my car became my office. \r\nThe donations from this project has allowed me to stock each of my offices with simple games, fidgets and toys so that my students can feel at ease when meeting with me. They are better able to express their emotions and needs through play and because of that I can provide a safe place for them. \r\nI can now spend more time focusing and preparing for my sessions with students rather than having to stress about what items I have where and what I need to pack with with me for the next day.","fullyFundedDate":1757634133896,"projectUrl":"project/elementary-school-mental-health/9652955/","projectTitle":"Elementary School Mental Health","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Melissa Dorius","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9354820"},{"teacherId":10174392,"projectId":9666000,"letterContent":"This camera has been a huge asset to my classroom. Your support has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our students' learning, confidence, and ability to succeed in mathematics.\r\n\r\nIn sixth grade, students transition from basic computation to more complex mathematical thinking. This includes working with ratios, rates, integers, rational numbers, and algebraic expressions—all of which are emphasized in the Utah Core Standards for Mathematics. Calculators play an essential role in helping students focus on conceptual understanding rather than getting stuck on lengthy calculations.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, students can now engage more deeply with critical standards such as:\r\n\r\n6. RP.A (Ratios & Proportional Relationships): Students solve real-world problems involving unit rates and ratios. Calculators allow them to efficiently check their reasoning and explore multiple solution strategies.\r\n\r\n6.NS.B (The Number System—Dividing Fractions): Students divide multi-digit numbers and work with rational numbers. Calculators help verify complex operations so they can better understand why procedures work.\r\n\r\n6.EE.A & 6.EE.B (Expressions & Equations): Students evaluate expressions and solve equations involving variables. Calculators support accuracy and allow students to focus on understanding relationships between numbers.\r\n\r\n6.SP.B (Statistics & Probability): Students calculate measures of center and variability. Calculators help them analyze data sets quickly and interpret results meaningfully.\r\n\r\nSpecific classroom impact:\r\n\r\nDuring a recent lesson on integer operations, students were able to use calculators to test the rules they were learning. This reinforced conceptual understanding and reduced frustration.\r\n\r\nIn our ratio unit, students compared unit prices and solved multi-step real-world problems more confidently because they could rely on calculators to check their work.\r\n\r\nWhen working on expressions and equations, calculators allowed students to evaluate complex expressions accurately, enabling them to focus on the logic behind each step.\r\n\r\nYour generosity ensures that all students—regardless of background—have access to the tools they need to succeed. These calculators help create an equitable learning environment where students can explore challenging problems, build confidence, and develop the mathematical thinking skills essential for success in middle school, high school, and beyond.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kindness and support. You have truly made a difference in our classroom, and our students are grateful for the opportunities you have helped create.\r\n\r\nWith appreciation,\r\nCami Read and 6th-grade students","fullyFundedDate":1756303432090,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-math-potential-with-calculator/9638289/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Math Potential with Calculators in Sixth Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Read","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10213629"},{"teacherId":10174392,"projectId":9799210,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of filament for our classroom 3D printer! \r\n\r\nYour support is helping us make creativity and our 3D printing projects possible every single day. \r\n\r\nEach spool of filament means more opportunities for my students to bring their ideas to life.
