Representation of diverse voices is integral to ensuring all students have the opportunity to see themselves in the texts we read. This book helped me broaden that diversity. \r\n\r\nI have had students ask to keep the book after reading it, and that is such a gift--for me, for them, for their community. \r\n\r\nThank you for your help bringing this highly engaging and beautiful unit into light. We couldn't have had the enriching educational experiences we had as a class without these books.","fullyFundedDate":1727476687270,"projectUrl":"project/unit-plan-everything-sad-is-untrue/8751382/","projectTitle":"Unit Plan: \"Everything Sad Is Untrue\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hoxer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9027921"},{"teacherId":7688330,"projectId":8681965,"letterContent":"There are days when we can't go outside for recess because of the weather. However the kids still need to rest their brain. These games helped my students to have a break from the normal school stuff. \r\n\r\nThank you for making it possible for my students to still have a fun recess even when it is raining or too cold to go outside. My students were also learning how to play well with others and taking turns since these are cooperative games. They learned so much about how yo play and how to play well with others, so thank you again.","fullyFundedDate":1730155694314,"projectUrl":"project/indoor-recess/8681965/","projectTitle":"Indoor Recess","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hatch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7688330"},{"teacherId":9689061,"projectId":8676179,"letterContent":"Your support has transformed our special education self-contained classroom in ways I never imagined possible. When the role-play toys arrived, our students' eyes lit up with wonder and excitement. One student, typically hesitant to communicate, immediately grabbed the doctor's stethoscope and began \"examining\" classmates, interacting in new ways. The immediate boost in engagement and social interaction was heartwarming to witness.\r\n\r\nThese toys have become a part of our daily learning experiences. We've incorporated them into social skills lessons, using the hair salon and barber shop toys to practice turn-taking and polite conversation. Our housekeeping and grocery store toys are the cornerstone of our life skills curriculum, teaching sorting, organization, and basic financial concepts through a classroom mini-economy. Perhaps most surprisingly, we've seen a boost in language development, with students eagerly describing their imaginative play scenarios using new vocabulary.\r\n\r\nWe're excited about our upcoming \"Community Helpers\" unit, where students will use these toys to learn about different professions. We have also added gardening toys into our science curriculum, starting a small classroom garden to teach about plant life cycles and responsibility. Your generosity hasn't just provided toys; it has given us tools to unlock our students' potential, fostering growth, connection, and joy in countless small victories throughout our day. Thank you for believing in our students and providing them with these invaluable learning opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1725032317369,"projectUrl":"project/a-world-of-imagination-role-play-toys-f/8676179/","projectTitle":"A World of Imagination: Role-Play Toys for Real-World Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Zoey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9689061_orig.jpg?crop=577,577,x0,y94&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724634196873","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9689061"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74265","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":987,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":74,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 9","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":62.6,"schoolId":74265,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ogden Preparatory Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ogden Preparatory Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/utah-department-of-education/ogden-preparatory-academy/74265"}
