They immediately wanted to touch, explore, and try everything. Many students expressed how the tools made them feel calmer, happier, and more focused. The classroom atmosphere shifted almost instantly—students were more relaxed, engaged, and eager to participate.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our next steps include incorporating these tools into ongoing social-emotional learning lessons and creative projects. Students will continue to use them to build coping skills, practice self-regulation, and express themselves in healthy ways. When students are recognized and rewarded for showing up and making an effort, they feel valued and motivated to continue building positive habits. These incentives have encouraged students to attend school more consistently, arrive on time, and take pride in their progress—whether they are working toward perfect attendance or simply improving from where they started.\r\n\r\nThe items funded through this project has allowed me to create a positive, supportive attendance system that focuses on encouragement rather than punishment. Students have had opportunities to earn small prizes, participate in fun activities, and be recognized for their efforts. This approach helps build confidence, strengthens students' connection to school, and creates a school environment where students feel excited and supported every day.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, improved attendance leads to increased learning opportunities. When students are present and engaged, they are better able to participate in lessons, build relationships, and experience academic success. While many donors may be familiar with technology as something used at home for entertainment or convenience, this project shows how technology in schools can remove barriers and increase independence. Using 3D printing, our Assistive Technology specialists were able to produce customized solutions tailored to individual student needs—something that would be difficult or impossible to accomplish with off-the-shelf products.\r\n\r\nThe impact of these tools has been immediate and powerful. A custom stylus grip was created for a student with severe physical disabilities, allowing her to independently access her communication device. Fidgets were printed to help students improve focus and regulate emotions, while a milk carton holder with dual handles now gives a student with fine motor challenges a more stable and successful way to open and hold her milk. An adjustable reading ruler was also created to support a student during classwork, helping improve access to reading tasks and confidence in learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting outcomes has been the inspiration this project has sparked. The Assistive Technology team has begun collaborating with high school students to explore the design side of 3D printing, allowing students to see how innovation can be used to support inclusion and accessibility. Although student-designed models are still in development, students are enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to solutions that make a real difference. Your donation has laid the foundation for ongoing collaboration, empathy, and innovation that will continue to grow and positively impact students across our district.","fullyFundedDate":1759362125698,"projectUrl":"project/printing-possibilities-assistive-techno/9656737/","projectTitle":"Printing Possibilities: Assistive Technology Team Designing for Inclusion","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Robert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10187987"},{"teacherId":2643108,"projectId":9734638,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous support in helping provide fidgets and specialized tools for our students with special needs.
