These nonfiction books are already sparking that \"wait, tell me more\" energy everywhere. One student grabbed a national parks book and immediately started planning a dream trip, while another dove into ancient civilizations and didn't want to leave when the bell rang. That's the magic of access—when students can choose topics they care about, engagement and motivation shoot up, and reading starts to feel like discovery instead of a task.\r\n\r\nYou didn't just send books—you built background knowledge. For many of our multilingual learners, these texts (including Spanish titles!) are helping them connect new ideas to what they already know, which research shows is key to comprehension and vocabulary growth. Teachers are already pulling these into lessons—pairing history titles with primary sources, using psychology and science books to spark discussion, and weaving arts and sports into projects that actually feel relevant to students' lives. It's making learning stick in a real way.\r\n\r\nAnd the variety? Incredible! From volcanoes to Vikings, etiquette to the World Cup, space exploration to poetry—there's something here for every kind of learner. Students are seeing themselves in these pages and also stepping into brand new worlds. That combination builds confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking all at once.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in what fuels them—questions, interests, and big ideas. Students with limited English are so excited to find more reading options in their language--both fiction and nonfiction! There's something special about watching a student pick up a book in their first language and immediately feel confident enough to jump in.\r\n\r\nYour support is making a real difference in how students learn. Strong literacy in a first language helps students build vocabulary, comprehension, and background knowledge that transfers directly to English. Now, when students learn about topics like historical events or scientific concepts, they're building that understanding in Spanish first—so when they encounter it in English, it clicks faster and sticks deeper. Teachers are using these books to connect lessons, support understanding, and make learning more meaningful and accessible for every student.\r\n\r\nJust as important, students feel seen and valued. They're choosing books they can fully engage with while continuing to grow as bilingual learners. They're building confidence, independence, and pride in who they are. They ask for them constantly, and now we can finally say \"yes\" more often and turn that excitement into real reading momentum.\r\n\r\nWhat I love most about this collection is the mix—engaging fiction alongside high-interest nonfiction that builds knowledge and vocabulary in a natural, approachable way. Prize levels were based on the number of books read, which kept motivation high all year long. Several students read over 50 books, and most shared that they've read more this year than ever before! Readers were so stoked about their books and prizes! The energy was incredible! Book club was a verifiable success!\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this project is that each student got to choose four brand-new books to keep for their own personal library. This has made a huge difference in the depth and quality of our work. My students have been using printed references for their two-point perspective cityscapes, which helps them better understand structure, proportion, and spatial relationships. We have also used printed portraits for their celebrity monochromatic projects, allowing them to focus on value, shading, and detail in a more meaningful way. In addition, the chalk pastel animal projects have benefited so much from having clear reference images that students can study closely and interpret in their own artistic style.\r\nHaving access to these resources right at our fingertips has elevated the entire classroom experience. Students are more engaged, more confident, and more willing to take creative risks because they have strong visual support to guide their work. Your generosity truly made an immediate impact the moment they arrived. They came in today, and I honestly could not wait to get them into my students' hands!\r\nThis week, my students have been working on our Harmony Insect Project, which focuses heavily on intricate, repeating patterns and balanced design. In the past, tracing these detailed elements has been a challenge due to limited resources. Students often had to wait their turn to use shared materials or try to find space near a window for natural light. While they always tried their best, it sometimes slowed down their momentum and made the process a bit frustrating.\r\nThanks to you, that completely changed today. It was SSOOOO exciting to hand each student their own personal light box and watch their faces light up as they began working. Instead of waiting, every student was able to dive right into their project at the same time. The classroom felt calm, focused, and incredibly productive.\r\nThe difference was truly amazing. Students were able to carefully trace their designs with more accuracy and confidence, which not only improved the quality of their work but also boosted their pride in what they were creating. I saw students who sometimes struggle with patience stay engaged for longer periods of time, simply because the process was smoother and more accessible.\r\nYour support didn't just provide a tool—it created an opportunity for every student to succeed at their own pace. It allowed them to fully engage in the creative process without unnecessary barriers.
