During our daily small group reading rotations, these materials give my students hands-on tools to practice blending sounds and decoding CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words like cat, map, and bug. Working in small groups allows me to give each child targeted support at their exact learning level, building their confidence step-by-step as they realize they are truly reading.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps are to build on this strong foundation. As my students master basic CVC words, we will begin introducing simple decodable sentences and short stories so they can apply their skills in context. I am sorry about that. I work in a Title 1 school, 80% are in poverty, so them even holding a new book is a treat. With your generous donation I have been able to supply hungry students daily. Students on our low income population school often go without meals. Being able to help supplement their daily needs has helped them focus in class more, regulate their emotions and try their best on their assignments. \r\n\r\nSome of the donations were candy form and we use that in our classroom reward system.
