We use these books during our small-group reading comprehension time, giving students opportunities to practice important skills in a way that is engaging and accessible to them. The books provide us with a variety of stories and characters that we can use to build vocabulary, comprehension, listening, and communication skills.\r\n\r\nDuring our reading groups, we ask questions throughout the story to encourage students to think about what is happening, identify characters and important details, make predictions, and demonstrate their understanding. We are able to adapt the questions and activities to meet each student's individual needs and abilities. Having new and exciting books has given us more opportunities to keep students interested and actively participating during these lessons.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, our students love the characters and stories! They are much more engaged when we use fun, colorful, and interesting books, and that engagement creates more opportunities for learning. For our students, being excited about a book can turn reading time into a meaningful learning experience.
