Because of your donation, every student in my class has their own pair of headphones to use at school. We use our headphones mostly during our small group time when students are not all doing the same thing. Many of my students this year struggle with overstimulation or are distracted easily, so students having their own pair of headphones has significantly reduced distractions and off task behavior. It also allows other students who are not on computers at this time to focus on their work and not be distracted by computer noises. \r\nOur new headphones have significantly helped with the overall atmosphere of our classroom. It has allowed me to work one on one or in small groups with the students in a quiet and focused space. My students and I recognize the difference in feeling of our classroom when all the students use headphones. It is more calm, peaceful, and focused.\r\nMost of my students were excited when they got their own box of crayons at the beginning of the year so you can imagine how excited they were when they got their own pair of headphones to use at school. They were so excited to see what color their headphones were and still talk frequently about how some of them have matching headphones. My students were so excited at the prospect of having the multiplication games, but the reality is so much more than they even expected. They get very excited when I tell them it's time to practice their facts. They now have a myriad of games to choose from that will help them practice their facts. My third graders have been using the new materials to explore real-world science concepts through hands-on investigations. One of our favorite projects was our Force and Motion unit. Students built mini ramps, raced cars, and tested how friction and height affected speed. It was amazing to watch them make predictions, measure results, and excitedly debate their findings like real scientists!\r\n\r\nAnother highlight was our Magnets exploration. The new magnets and STEM tools made it possible for students to experiment freely, testing attraction and repulsion, creating simple mazes for magnetic cars, and even designing their own \"magnet-powered inventions.\" The look on their faces when they first opened the boxes was priceless, pure excitement, curiosity, and joy! Many of them couldn't believe the materials were for our classroom.\r\n\r\nThese resources have encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration in a way that simple worksheets never could. My students are now more confident when exploring scientific ideas and more eager to ask questions and test their theories. Next, we plan to use the materials for our upcoming Engineering Challenge, where students will design bridges and towers using force and balance. We are sitting on it daily. It helps my students have their own personal space that helps them not bother their neighbors. We also use it as a management tool...using each color row to organize the class into groups. It is also helpful to sit around the edge of the rug and create a learning circle where everyone can see each other!\r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled! When they saw the new rug, they immediately found their own spots and couldn't stop smiling. Several said, \"It's so colorful!\" and \"It's so soft!\"...they were eager to sit together for our first morning meeting on our new rug.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll use the mat for group activities, story time, and circle games. The mat will help students learn about personal space, taking turns, and working together as a class. One of the items in my project was a package of long jump ropes. My students and I use these jump ropes every day at recess, and the students really look forward to it! When we first started the year, many of them could only jump over the rope once or twice. Now, about 6 weeks into the school year, students are jumping dozens of times and loving every second.\r\n\r\nAnother big hit from this project was the prize box. I use these prizes as part of our class store every other week, and students are highly motivated to earn enough coins to purchase these prizes. They have helped keep motivation high in my classroom and give students another thing to look forward to at the end of the week.\r\n\r\nI will be forever grateful for each of you who helped get me on my feet as a first-year teacher.
