My goal from day one is to help my students learn not only academics, but also important life lessons. As adults, we often forget that these students need experiences learning and talking about traits such as kindness, inclusiveness, and courage. Picture books can help illustrate these important lessons in an uplifting ways. They provide a common base that we can discuss as a class. By reading a book and holding classroom discussions, we can set a positive classroom tone that will carry on throughout the school year. My plan is to use these picture books at the beginning of the school year. Students can draw on the examples given in the books throughout the year as well. Thank you for helping me provide my students with meaningful learning activities that will help them now and in the future.
