Instead of having a black and white chart about the life cycle of a bat, I was able to print it in color which made it better for my students.\r\nThe printer has already had a great impact. I have been able to keep teaching even when accidents or mistakes happen and a student needs a new copy of a worksheet. I am able to stay in the classroom and make a quick copy. They give us the opportunity to safely practice fitness skills, gymnastics, and—student favorites—cooperative games that challenge teamwork and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nOne recent highlight was a cooperative activity called Titanic. In this game, the mat represented the Titanic, and students had to figure out how to get their \"boat\" across the gym using hula hoops and poly dots as their stepping stones. The room was full of laughter, teamwork, and determination as groups strategized together. The mats made it possible for us to bring this game to life in a way that felt exciting and safe for everyone, and the students are already asking when we'll play it again!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue using the mats in many ways—whether it's stretching and fitness, gymnastics skills, or cooperative challenges that bring out creativity and collaboration. I projected the ebook most of the time, except when I couldn't renew my copy. This year, when I told the students we would be reading it as a class, and they would actually each have their own copy to use, they actually cheered! Many have read it before in English and love the story already, and others are excited to read a book that is already somewhat familiar to them. \r\nEach week, we will be reading through a section of the book together. I read aloud and model what fluent reading looks and sounds like. I also do all the \"voices\" - each character has their own specific intonation, accent, and character in their voice as I read. I plan ahead each week's reading and choose vocabulary words that the students may not be very familiar with in Spanish, but that will help them better understand the story. We will discuss these words ahead of time, and the students will be looking and listening for them during the read aloud.\r\nAlong with learning vocabulary, there are language arts standards that we are required to cover as teachers. I have a basal Spanish program, and while it has some merits, it is very dry and mostly informational text. In order to get the students excited to read, I feel it's important to have them engaged with the reading. \"Wild Robot\" will do that. I can still teach all the same literacy standards while I read. I will focus on different skills each week, pointing out changes in perspective of the characters, story structure, point of view, figurative language, etc.\r\nIf you would like more information about how it is used in my classroom when we get to that point in the year, please feel free to reach out to me via email.","fullyFundedDate":1742963035309,"projectUrl":"project/wild-readers/9142479/","projectTitle":"Wild Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Motola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4151503_orig.jpg?crop=1987,1988,x0,y291&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741120189650","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4151503"},{"teacherId":4573408,"projectId":9231178,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting this project.
