The seating is used every single day and allows students to sit with good posture while singing and while playing the ukulele and recorder. Good posture helps with breath support so this makes a huge impact for music students! \r\n\r\nOne thing I love about the new seating is the chairs are lightweight so students can help get them out and put them away safely. We also use our classroom for a lot of dancing and being able to stack the seating is so helpful to allow for safe maneuvering around the classroom. \r\n\r\nKnow that your donation is helping students every day they come to class. The music classroom is an inclusive place for students of all kinds and backgrounds. Your generosity helps us have enough instruments for each child to get to play and explore. One lesson we did recently had students compose a short melody to describe a book character of their choice. They used the xylophone to create and then perform for the class. Another similar composition activity had first grade students choose a favorite animal and create a short song that would describe the animal. \r\n\r\nWhen the students saw the new xylophone they were so excited about it! Previously we had to take turns and not every child got a turn during class. The new xylophone makes it possible for students to have more hands-on time with the instrument. \r\n\r\nThe next step for our music classroom is to work on ensemble skills. We strive to support and teach students at their level and challenge them to be their best. One thing I've noticed is that the students want to learn and are excited to explore music. Students are learning and exploring sounds of all types and a new xylophone makes this possible! \r\n\r\nOur school serves over 730 students and we use our xylophones often. For a while, we didn't have enough for students to get good time on them. The xylophone supports student motor skill development and is a great medium for learning to read music and collaborate with others. \r\n\r\nWhen I showed the students the new xylophone, they were so excited and wanted to play it! The stickers gave them something to work toward and helped motivate them to keep trying, making good choices, and being kind. We are using the piano for a variety of activities including improvisation, instrument practice, exploration, composition, and collaboration. One memorable project was when our third graders used the piano to compose short pieces that they performed in small groups. This not only enhanced their technical skills but also fostered a sense of teamwork and creativity.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was palpable when the students first encountered the new digital piano. Their faces lit up with curiosity and enthusiasm, turning the music room into a hub of vibrant energy. Previous to this donation, students had to limit time on the instrument. This donation allows students to have twice the previous time for piano creativity. It was a joy to witness their eagerness to explore the new sounds and features of the piano. Many students were particularly fascinated by the different tones and rhythms available, which inspired them to experiment and express themselves musically in new ways.
