Each student selected a planet to create out of colorful wool, carefully shaping and layering fibers to capture the unique features of their chosen planet. Once completed, the students proudly hung their planets to create beautiful, rotating solar system mobiles that now brighten our classroom. This hands-on project not only deepened their understanding of planetary science but also allowed them to explore a new art technique and express their creativity.\r\nThe students were absolutely overjoyed when they saw the vibrant wool and felting supplies. Many had never seen or touched wool roving before, and their excitement was contagious. They couldn't wait to start experimenting with the colors and textures, and several students immediately began discussing how they would mix colors to match the look of each planet. Their enthusiasm set a joyful, collaborative tone for the project.We plan to display these mobiles and artist statements throughout the school, sharing both our scientific knowledge and artistic accomplishments with the broader community. \r\nIn the future, we will use the felting supplies for additional projects, such as creating animals or landscapes, ensuring that this generous donation continues to inspire creativity and learning for years to come.
