This project has given my students the opportunity to have their own copy of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Surgeons as we complete our book studies. There is something special about having a book in your hands and being able to read along, go back into the story, and really feel like the book belongs to you. It has made our reading time more exciting and engaging for my second graders.\r\nThese books are also giving us the chance to learn and work together. My students read along with me and then work in small groups to discuss the story and complete different parts of our book study. They are practicing making inferences, finding details, thinking about characters, and explaining their answers using the text. I love watching them talk about what they are reading, share their ideas, and sometimes even disagree about what they think is going to happen next!\r\nYour donation has given my students more than just new books. It has given them the chance to experience reading together, learn from one another, and have fun while building important reading skills.
