All are used on a regular basis, but the most used one is 1 minute. As part of the grant I was able to make flashcards for my students. We have reading and math flashcards. Many of my first graders do not know the most basic math facts.\r\n\r\nTheir favorite way to use the flashcards is to play around the world. It is a simple head to head competition to see who can get the answer first. \r\n\r\nWe use these flashcards almost weekly in the classroom and they are sent home for homework. Many of my students never get the opportunity to play \"board\" games with their family. It is just not part of their family life. Last week, I was out of routine, and totally forgot about it. Towards the end of the day, someone asked about it. Oops. \r\nSince they have to earn the privilege to sit comfortably on the floor, it is an incentive for good behavior all week long. After we read the story of the 3 little pigs, particularly liked the STEM challenge of building a better house to keep the big bad wolf out. They built a variety of structures, working on fine motor skills and also using the figurines included in the STEM kit to re-enact the story.
