She had been consistently unmotivated in math, often disengaged and rarely turning in work. When she heard about the opportunity to join our new e-sports club, everything changed. My dancers and I feel so incredibly blessed and lucky to incorporate tap dance into our weekly curriculum. Each day of the week, my dancers focus on a specific style or area of dance. For example, Mondays are for tap lessons and on Tuesdays, we work on overall dance technique. My dancers are always very eager for Mondays, because they know that means it's time for tap! They love lacing up the tap shoes and going into the hallway to hear the sounds of their silver taps clicking along the floor. It is truly incredible to see. \r\n\r\nWhen we were surprised with the news that our project was funded, my students were really excited. However, when it came to the day our materials arrived and it was time for fittings, they were literally bouncing around with so much pure joy and happiness. They were eager to try on the tap shoes and find their exact fit and even more happy to hear their tap sounds! During tap lessons, the dancers are serious, poised, and focused. They work very hard each week to learn the various tap movements and combinations we are working on.\r\n\r\nIn the springtime, we will put on our spring showcase for our school and community. My dancers are already asking \"can we do tap?!\" so we are definitely going to include a tap piece or two in our showcase! I am truly thankful and honored to be given such an amazing opportunity.
