Coming from a community that is considered by many as the "poor side" of San Antonio My students face many challenges that most students do not. Through the struggles and pressure of gangs, drugs, and regular violence in the community i have taught my students in Algebra that circumstances do not dictate outcomes. I strive to show the importance of an education. My algebra students have been able to excel in math. We have worked from one of the last schools in our district for algebra to one of the best in the district. My students have developed a critical mind for math and number sense all while working to maintain their grades in their other classes.
