This technology supports learning in real time.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for students is how natural the technology feels. The translation feature allows them to stay engaged without constantly needing adult assistance, which builds independence and confidence. The addition of Mario Kart to our E-sports club library has provided students with a fun outlet in school. The game has quickly become a shared experience that brings students together.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to the technology, particularly those who are new to the country. Students who were once hesitant to speak or participate are now more willing to engage in class discussions and work with partners. In the E-sports club, students who may not always feel successful in traditional academic settings have found a place to shine and have fun at school. \r\n\r\nOverall, this project has helped students feel seen, supported, and included. It has strengthened both academic learning and school community by giving students tools that remove barriers and create opportunities to connect. Students used the Micro:bits to build their own versions of the classic board game from scratch. They used cardboard, foil, and wire to construct the game boards, and then programmed the Micro:bits to act as the sensors. The room was filled with excitement (and nervous laughter!) as they tested their steady hands; if the tweezers touched the sides, the Micro:bit would instantly flash a sad face or buzz a sound effect that the students had coded themselves.\r\n\r\nThis project was a game-changer literally for my students who typically struggle with traditional computer science. The 'maker' nature of the project allowed students who love building with their hands to shine alongside those who love coding.
