Students handled the dissection tools and specimens with great care and approached the lab with curiosity, respect, and a genuine desire to learn. I was especially excited to see students who don't always participate as actively become completely engaged, asking thoughtful questions, making observations, and collaborating with their lab partners.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful moments came when we dissected the pregnant rats. Students immediately noticed that several of the organs looked different from those in the non-pregnant rats. They compared the sizes of the hearts and other organs, developed explanations for why they might be larger, and connected those observations to what we had learned about anatomy and physiology. On top of identifying structures, students were asking questions, making comparisons, and supporting their ideas with evidence from what they observed.\r\n\r\nThese dissections have given my students a much deeper understanding of mammalian anatomy than diagrams or videos alone could provide. Thank you for making this authentic learning experience possible. The students always look forward to this project and then talk about it the rest of the school year. Underclassmen watch us launch our rockets and anticipate taking my class next year to participate in this event. \r\n\r\nThe portable power station was a game changer. We had quite a bit of shifting wind throughout the day and we had to change our launch area between class periods. The air compressor allowed a maximum air pressure of 120psi in the rockets with launched them to uncharted heights than years prior.\r\n\r\nThe project's headline boasted water bottle rockets in excess of 100mph, and after the math was done almost all groups achieved this! One pair of students built a perfect Spider-Man themed rocket that set a record and achieved a max speed of 140mph. The rocket went as high as an 80-story skyscraper.\r\n\r\nI wish I could include more than 10 pictures as students truly had a memorable experience. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you immensely for your generosity. This yearly project has been elevated thanks to you all for funding this project. I look forward to this project next year and seeing students pushing the envelope to break this year's set record. Each group would become an expert and come back to their group to share their part. Students made posters with the post its and used the Mr.Sketch markers. Two fifty-pound dumbbells are a lot of weight. Luckily, I sent them with a cart. Last week, our rehabs were pretty slow, and everyone seemed to be staying on the field or court, but this week, the kids have needed some serious work. \r\nWith the new dumbbells, we can challenge the student athletes a little bit more. A kid with a lower-body injury can still lift with their upper body.
