We're already using the games and dry erase boards during small-group reading stations where students practice making inferences from short passages. In one recent lesson, pairs used the boards to write a short constructed response to a central idea question using evidence and explanations before sharing with the class. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, students gasped with excitement and immediately wanted to open the boxes; within minutes they were testing the inferencing games, cheering when peers gave strong evidence for their inferences, and asking when we could play again. They really enjoyed playing the Context Clues game as well. We also use them in our work station activities. \r\n\r\nNext, we'll extend these tools beyond reading by using the games for math word‑problem inference activities (students draw clues and propose solution strategies), for science investigations (quick hypothesis sketches and observational notes on dry erase boards), and for social studies source‑analysis stations (students annotate primary documents and record supporting evidence). These next steps will culminate in interdisciplinary projects where students use their boards to plan, revise, and present work that shows growth in critical thinking across subjects. Thank you once again!! We're deeply grateful for your support in making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1747446184612,"projectUrl":"project/erase-and-engage-inferencing-in-action/9068900/","projectTitle":"Erase and Engage: Inferencing in Action!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Charles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9121342"},{"teacherId":4770273,"projectId":9108909,"letterContent":"Given that I am a third-year special education teacher who is starting at a new campus this school year, I am more grateful than ever. I can get started with less stress or worry. I can get organized, which is often the most time consuming task in August. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, I immediately made a good impression with my peers and supervisors. I set up stations with the various supplies and even stashed some in my closet for reserves. I can't tell you how good that feels as we get going through the year. \r\n\r\nGiven that the year is just in week two of school, my students have not been in my classroom yet. I service them starting on the third week, but I know they will feel good and even enjoy what you have helped me put together. \r\n\r\nThank you and please keep supporting public school teachers here via DonorsChoose.","fullyFundedDate":1746834378394,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-basics-for-resource-teachers-a/9108909/","projectTitle":"Classroom Basics for Resource Teachers and Special Ed Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Morales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4770273_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1504737325675","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4770273"},{"teacherId":9437553,"projectId":8819492,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generous donation of bilingual books. Throughout the year, my students have been exposed to a variety of new reading materials, and it has been rewarding to observe their preferences when expressing gratitude.\r\n\r\nThe most gratifying aspect of this experience has been witnessing the students' progress over the course of the year. Students who initially lacked foundational reading skills are now able to hold a book and turn pages appropriately. Others with limited print awareness can now identify the starting and ending points of texts, and some can recognize the letters in their names within words from the books.\r\n\r\nTheir vocabulary has expanded significantly. We have explored topics such as the seasons of the year, holidays, related items, and descriptive words. It was truly rewarding to see students applying these new vocabulary words in their speech and writing.\r\n\r\nIn terms of sentence structure, students who previously used only one- or two-word phrases are now constructing sentences with three to four words to describe pictures or events in the stories. The feedback from parents about increased language use at home has been wonderful and brought a smile to my face.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, students' ability to retell stories has improved; those who once summarized stories in three sentences are now able to identify characters, problems, solutions, and resolutions.\r\n\r\nThere is much to celebrate as the year concludes. Thank you again for contributing to students' success.","fullyFundedDate":1728009558582,"projectUrl":"project/leer-es-vivir/8819492/","projectTitle":"Leer es vivir!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. R","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9437553"},{"teacherId":9891784,"projectId":9048649,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating the dictionaries for my third-grade bilingual classroom. My students were so excited when they received them and immediately began using them. We use them in our literacy centers, small group activities, and in writing short and extended responses to show their comprehension. \r\n My administrator was thrilled to witness the students mastering how to use them. The students refer to their dictionaries when struggling in spelling words or when looking for the definitions to words they do not understand. \r\n Your generosity is making a real impact in my bilingual classroom. My students are more confident because they are using the dictionaries and becoming more independent in looking up words. Because of your contribution, my students will know how to use them as they go on to fourth grade.
