We read stories every day, using books to build early literacy, vocabulary, listening, and comprehension skills. As we read, students learn to answer questions, make connections, talk about characters and events, and share their ideas. We also use story time to practice important classroom skills like wait time and impulse control. When I ask a question, students are learning to stop, think about their answer, and wait for their turn instead of shouting out.\r\n\r\nA growing classroom library gives my students more opportunities to explore new stories, build their vocabulary, develop comprehension, and discover a love for reading. At this age, we are creating early learners and building the foundation for the literacy skills they will carry with them throughout school. Having a variety of books available allows students to see themselves in stories, learn about the world around them, and enjoy reading both with their teacher and independently. Their eyes lit up as we unboxed the moon phase light, terrarium, biOrb aquarium, and root view plant kit—they couldn't wait to roll up their sleeves and start exploring these new hands-on science tools.\r\n\r\nThese materials have completely transformed our classroom environment into an interactive laboratory. Using the moon phase light, our class was able to model and visualize the lunar cycle right in our classroom, making an abstract space concept instantly clear and tangible. Meanwhile, students have been busy setting up the terrarium and the biOrb aquarium, observing firsthand how aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems function, balance, and thrive. The root view plant kit has allowed us to peek beneath the soil to track root architecture and plant growth in real-time. Having these living models in our classroom has sparked endless curiosity, daily scientific observations, and rich discussions among my students.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve using our ecosystems for a long-term observational study where students will measure water quality parameters, track plant root growth rates, and present their findings to the class. This has increased focus, reduced off-task behavior, and allowed students to work at their own pace with confidence.\r\n\r\nThe wobble stools have quickly become a classroom favorite. My students absolutely love using them during lessons. They provide a safe and appropriate way for students to move while learning, which is especially important during longer instructional blocks.
