The first step in this process is a pre-UIL performance where we receive comments from judges and professional recordings of the performance. Professional recordings are only as good as clear as the speakers that you use for playback. Students were able to use this speaker to listen to their recordings, judges tapes, and sightreading feedback in order to create a game plan for the rest of our performance assessment preparation. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, this speaker is positioned in the back of our band room closest to the percussion, the time-keepers for the band! These students have benefitted greatly from the placement of the metronome, our time-keeping device. Instead of losing time looking for copies or asking my band teacher partner to run copies, I can now meet student needs in real time. This supports learning and keeps everyone engaged.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting to the students is how quickly they can get what they need including new music, warm-ups, and parent letters. They do not have to wait or miss part of rehearsal. It's helped reinforce their sense of preparedness and responsibility. We have a few students that come in after school that often find music online that they would like to learn. Instead of reading it on their phones, they can simply email it to the band directors and have it printed. They learn faster, have the ability to write on the music, and can share copies with their friends. This project hasn't just improved logistics.
