As a middle school counselor, I work with students who often come to school hungry, have missed breakfast, or need a quick snack to help them focus and regulate their emotions. Thanks to your donation of granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, popcorn, cereal bars, and other snacks, we are able to provide students with nourishing options that help them feel cared for, supported, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on our students' faces when they saw the snack supplies was priceless. Many students immediately expressed gratitude, and some shared that having access to a snack helps them make it through the school day. We use these snacks during counseling sessions, small groups, classroom lessons, and whenever a student is struggling to concentrate due to hunger. Something as simple as a snack can help a student feel calmer, more focused, and more prepared to participate in class. The variety of snacks has also allowed us to meet different student preferences while ensuring that students always have something available when they need it.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has done far more than fill a snack cabinet it has helped create a welcoming environment where students know they are valued. By meeting a basic need, you are helping remove barriers to learning and allowing students to focus on their academics, social-emotional growth, and future success. Before receiving this bookshelf, many of our counseling resources, social emotional learning books, activities, and materials were stored in different locations, making it difficult to quickly access what students needed. When the bookshelf arrived, I was excited to organize our growing collection of resources into one accessible space. Students immediately noticed the difference and commented on how inviting and organized the counseling area looked.\r\n\r\nThe bookshelf has already made a meaningful impact on our counseling program. We now use it to neatly store books focused on topics such as kindness, resilience, emotional regulation, anxiety, friendship skills, and self confidence. During individual counseling sessions, small groups, and classroom guidance lessons, students can easily browse and select books that relate to their experiences. Having materials organized and visible has encouraged students to explore resources independently and engage in conversations about their feelings and personal growth.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our counseling space is more welcoming, efficient, and student-centered. The next step is continuing to expand opportunities for students to use these resources through social emotional learning lessons, small group activities, and book based discussions that help them develop healthy coping skills and positive relationships. Because of your generosity, our students now have access to books and resources that are helping them grow not only as learners, but also as compassionate, resilient, and confident individuals.\r\n\r\nOne of the things I love most about these books is that they help students understand that they are not alone. Middle school can be a difficult time. Students are learning who they are while also trying to manage strong emotions and social pressures. Books such as those focused on anxiety, emotional regulation, impulse control, acceptance, and positive thinking provide opportunities for students to see themselves in the stories. They help students realize that everyone experiences challenges and that there are healthy ways to cope and grow.\r\n\r\nIn our counseling classroom, reading is much more than simply turning pages. We use these books to start meaningful conversations. Students and I often sit together in small groups and discuss the characters' feelings, decisions, and challenges. We pause to reflect on how the lessons connect to our own lives. Students share personal experiences, offer encouragement to one another, and practice empathy by considering different perspectives.\r\n\r\nThe books have also created opportunities for students to develop important social-emotional skills. Through these stories, students are learning how to recognize and express emotions, solve problems, build healthy relationships, practice kindness, show respect for differences, and persevere through challenges.\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project especially meaningful is that it supports the whole child. At Fonville Middle School, we strive to help students succeed academically while also nurturing their emotional well-being. Your donation has provided resources that allow us to do both. Every book read, every conversation started, and every skill practiced is helping students build stronger relationships, greater self-awareness, and more confidence in themselves.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has done far more than place books on a shelf. You have helped create opportunities for connection, healing, reflection, and growth. You have given students tools to better understand themselves and others. Most importantly, you have shown our students that there are people they may never meet who believe in them and care about their success.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and helping us build kind hearts through books. The dehumidifier alone absorbs about a gallon of water within just a few hours, keeping the air fresh and dry. The fan circulates the air perfectly, making the classroom feel brighter and more inviting.\r\n\r\nMy students immediately noticed the change. Thanks to your support, we've been able to provide essentials like deodorant, pads, toothpaste, and wash cloths—items that help them feel clean, confident, and cared for.\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of gratitude and excitement.
