Before this, my warm-ups and lesson openers were pretty traditional: paper, pencil, or a quick whiteboard check. Now, because of your generosity, my students are stepping into class excited to see which game mode we're using that day. With Gimkit Pro, they've been able to explore features we never had access to before: from navigating obstacle courses that feel like Fortnite or Roblox obbies, to teaming up in Color Clash and battling it out to see which group controls the map. Even though they don't fully understand all the premium upgrades behind the scenes, they definitely feel the difference. When class ended, they were already asking when we'd play again and even suggested new ways we could use it in the future.\r\n\r\nWhat I love most is how these tools secretly turn review into long-term retention. Instead of a quiet worksheet or a tired exit ticket, students now warm up by \"screen to scratch\" problem solving, competing with their friends, building confidence, and actually having fun while revisiting prior knowledge. Because of your generosity, students are building a community without knowing it, helping themselves store knowledge in ways that stick, something I've learned to prioritize deeply through my graduate courses on effective learning environments.\r\n\r\nBehind the scenes, the analytics have been just as powerful. I'm able to see live reports across all my classes, which tells me exactly who needs extra support and what concepts need to be retaught. For example, during our constructions unit, I discovered through the data that my 5th period struggled more than my 6th and 7th. That insight allowed me to pull them for a mini-lesson before the gaps became too large to ignore. This is the kind of instructional responsiveness I strive for as a teacher, and your donation makes it possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my classroom. These tools are already making such a meaningful difference, and I can't wait to continue using them as we move into our next units.","fullyFundedDate":1757682340766,"projectUrl":"project/making-math-fun-interactive-learning-wi/9625392/","projectTitle":"Making Math Fun: Interactive Learning with Gimkit & Kahoot","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Dominguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9898546_orig.jpg?crop=1728,1728,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737250884355","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrdominguez223"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_100799","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":337,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":42,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.0,"schoolId":100799,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kathlyn Joy Gilliam Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/dallas-independent-school-district/kathlyn-joy-gilliam-academy/100799"}
