I hope you had a wonderful summer. We were not able to use the light boxes until this school year. But, they are already making an impact on our students. Especially the adaptive education students, who love to draw. \r\n \r\n Our kids often times have to create a visual representation of their learning. The light boxes help those kids who might struggle with drawing pictures. This allows them to take a picture that they can find and trace it to represent their learning. Our art students have been able to use them to create layered art by leveraging the light boxes for that purpose. I have seen a real change in student motivation because of the confidence they have built using this resource.","fullyFundedDate":1741992917368,"projectUrl":"project/light-boxes-to-enlighten/9146251/","projectTitle":"Light Boxes to Enlighten","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Thornton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4479033_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1538098881292","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/coachthornton"},{"teacherId":5271781,"projectId":9296213,"letterContent":"I am wanting to express how grateful I am for your generous donation of an IPAD and Apple Pencil in my history classroom. We have been in school for only a few weeks and having this technology has already increased engagement in the classroom. Students that were hesitant to participate or unsure if they understood the concepts, are now the first to want to try using the IPAD with other programs. \r\n\r\nStudents have used the device with a platform called Lumio. Here they have been able to access primary sources documents, articles, and map analysis. In the past, it was more difficult for students to show their peers what they were learning. My emergent bilingual students used to feel lost with the language barrier and their struggles with writing English. The iPad has given them access to translate text, use the pencil to annotate and has given them more confidence in participating with their groups members. \r\n\r\nMy students like working in collaborative study groups and using the Apple Pencil the most. They like that they can annotate a text using the pencil.
