As a Title I school serving a predominantly Hispanic community, many of our students have had limited opportunities to experience sports beyond those they are already familiar with. Thanks to our generous donors, our students are discovering new interests, building confidence, and realizing that there are so many different ways to be active and involved.\r\nWe are using the new equipment during recess and in our after-school sports clubs to introduce students to the rules, skills, and strategies of both sports. Students are learning how to handle hockey sticks, control the puck, pass to teammates, and work together toward a common goal. With pickleball, they are practicing hand-eye coordination, serving, rallying, and sportsmanship. One of the most rewarding moments has been watching students who were initially unfamiliar with these sports begin encouraging one another, celebrating successful passes and rallies, and asking when they will get to play again. Seeing their confidence grow and their enthusiasm spread to their classmates has been incredibly rewarding. These resources have given our students more than equipment; they have opened the door to new experiences, teamwork, and interests they may carry with them for years to come. Our next step is to continue building on the excitement these sports have created by helping students develop their skills, confidence, and understanding of teamwork. During recess and our after-school sports clubs, students will continue practicing basic skills and drills before progressing to partner activities, small-group challenges, and friendly games. They will have opportunities to practice communication, problem-solving, perseverance, and good sportsmanship while learning how to support one another and celebrate each other's progress.\r\nMost importantly, we want every student to feel included and discover an activity they genuinely enjoy, regardless of their previous experience or athletic ability. For our students, these opportunities are about much more than learning a new sport. They are about trying something unfamiliar, overcoming challenges, and discovering what they are capable of achieving. We are so grateful to our donors for making these opportunities possible. Your generosity has helped us bring new experiences into our school and has reminded our students that their interests, talents, and potential deserve to be nurtured. The sounds from different programs would overlap, and it was hard for students to hear directions or stories clearly. Now, with each child having their own pair of headphones, our classroom feels calm and focused. Students can log in, put on their headphones, and start learning at their own pace.\r\n\r\nWe use the headphones every day during our math rotations. They use online programs that read questions and instructions aloud, helping them solve problems and build number fluency. \r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and helping our students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1758481325039,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-needed/9626901/","projectTitle":"Headphones Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5281001_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1525790733970","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5281001"},{"teacherId":5281001,"projectId":9533981,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, our second graders have been putting our new black dry erase markers to great use during math lessons.
