Our program is a busy, creative space where students work on photography, yearbook, video production, broadcasting, and other digital media projects. Because so much of what we do is collaborative, our students don't spend all of their class time sitting at traditional desks. They are constantly moving around the room to plan projects, look through photos together, edit, brainstorm ideas, and solve problems as a team. These chairs have given them comfortable, flexible places to do exactly that.\r\n\r\nThe students were excited as soon as they saw the new seating. It may seem like something as simple as a chair wouldn't make a huge impact, but it changes the way students use our classroom. Instead of trying to gather around one student's desk or dragging classroom chairs from one area to another, they now have spaces where they can sit together and work. I have already seen students pull up a chair beside someone who is editing a photograph to offer suggestions, gather together to talk through an idea, or sit down with a classmate to make decisions about a project. Those little moments of collaboration are a huge part of learning in a media program.\r\n\r\nOne of my goals for Bison Media is to create a classroom that feels less like a traditional classroom and more like a working media lab. I want students to walk into the room and understand that they aren't simply completing assignments for a grade—they are creating real products for a real audience. Our students photograph school activities and athletics, help create our yearbook, produce video projects, and work to tell the stories of the students, staff, and community around them. Creating a space that encourages them to communicate, collaborate, and be creative is an important part of that.\r\n\r\nWe are just beginning a new school year, and our students already have plenty of work ahead of them. They will be photographing events and sports, planning yearbook coverage, learning new photography and editing skills, and developing video and broadcast projects. As the year progresses, these chairs will continue to be used every day as students plan, edit, review each other's work, and turn their ideas into finished projects.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for investing in our students and in Bison Media. Your donation didn't simply give us new classroom furniture—it helped us create a more welcoming, functional, and creative workspace for our students.
