One of our favorite moments so far was during a hands-on literacy center when students were able to explore the new tools in small groups. They were so engaged—rotating through activities, collaborating with their partners, and proudly showing me what they had created. The resources have made our centers more meaningful and much smoother to run.\r\n\r\nMany of them were eager to touch, explore, and share the new items with their friends. Their excitement made it clear how much these tools will impact their learning.\r\nNext, we'll be using the materials to deepen our center rotations—especially in literacy and hands-on fine motor activities. Students will continue practicing letter recognition, building early reading skills, and working collaboratively through structured play. These resources will support us throughout the year as we grow as readers, writers, and creative thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1757191512456,"projectUrl":"project/abcs-123s-learning-through-play-in-p/9678467/","projectTitle":"“ABCs & 123s: Learning Through Play in Preschool!”","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Abell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6984887"},{"teacherId":4498634,"projectId":9113303,"letterContent":"I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for your generous contribution to our classroom. As anyone can imagine when you have between 120-260 students in one area, that space can get loud and overwhelming for any one person. By adding noise cancelling headphones and several sounds machines to our lunchroom, students have been able to stay regulated during their lunch times. This has helped bring the noise levels down, along with help students that may struggle in those environments be able to eat with their peers. Students ask for headphones or the use of a sound machine on a daily, it is just a prime example that your gift has helped so many students within our school. \r\n We also received a canoe to use in our sensory room, this canoe gives a full body squeeze to students that may feel dis-regulated, imagine a full body hug. That is how one student described it when they sit in the canoe. Our Sensory Room sees 20-30 students a day, that does not include the students that use sensory tools within their classrooms, hallways and other areas of school. Adding different items for students to use, increases their abilities to regulate, return to class and even stay in their classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1735318717779,"projectUrl":"project/deep-pressure-and-quiet-relaxing-times/8765601/","projectTitle":"Deep Pressure and Quiet Relaxing Times","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. S","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6341772_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y341&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700248887915","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6341772"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44361","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":531,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":38,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":66.8,"schoolId":44361,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sturgis Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sturgis Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-dakota/meade-school-district-46-1/sturgis-elementary-school/44361"}
