The students were so excited to open the packages and couldn't wait to start using the new equipment. These items have helped my students learn important life skills such as self-regulation, healthy habits, and the value of exercise. We have enjoyed using the yoga mats and strength training bands both indoors and outside, which has helped students understand that exercise can happen anywhere. We will continue to use these items during our weekly wellness moments as we focus on taking care of our minds and bodies through movement, mindfulness, and healthy routines.","fullyFundedDate":1756935637360,"projectUrl":"project/bloom-balance-breathe-and-believe/9602019/","projectTitle":"Bloom, Balance, Breathe and Believe","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10180105"},{"teacherId":9313676,"projectId":9640017,"letterContent":"When my students first saw the new supplies, their faces immediately lit up with curiosity and excitement. Many of them asked where the materials came from, which gave me the perfect opportunity to introduce them to DonorsChoose and explain how generous donors like you help classrooms like ours. It was a wonderful moment to see their gratitude grow as they realized that there are people outside of our school who care deeply about their education and success.\r\n\r\nWe are currently working on the topic of Parallel and Perpendicular Lines in math, and the new materials have made a huge difference in helping students stay engaged. I designed a project called \"Town Map,\" where students used rulers, crayons, and Post-it paper to create their own maps of a town. They labeled roads, parks, and buildings, and had to ensure their streets were parallel or perpendicular, depending on where they connected. This hands-on activity allowed students to apply math concepts in a fun and creative way, and the classroom was buzzing with collaboration and problem-solving. In addition, I let them do some fun board games in relation to Math so it will be more engaging and interesting to them.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to extend this project by incorporating measurements and scale into their maps. Students will calculate distances between locations in their towns, which will give them a deeper understanding of scale drawings and proportional reasoning. Thanks to your generosity, we now have the tools to make these lessons come to life in a meaningful and memorable way. My students and I are truly grateful for your support. You've made math more exciting and interactive for them!","fullyFundedDate":1756925251893,"projectUrl":"project/a-math-experience-for-every-student-eng/9640017/","projectTitle":"A Math Experience for Every Student: Engage, Play, Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Frances Gonzales","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9313676_orig.jpg?crop=692,692,x0,y267&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696826982344","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9313676"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_6417","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":837,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":43,"percentWhite":20,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":48.6,"schoolId":6417,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Newberry High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Newberry High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/newberry-county-school-district/newberry-high-school/6417"}
