Because of your generosity, my students now have access to a wide variety of engaging, diverse, and age-appropriate books that are truly bringing our classroom to life.\r\n\r\nWhen the books first arrived, the excitement was unforgettable. The students couldn't believe the books were for them—they were running their hands over the covers, flipping through pages, and shouting out titles they recognized or couldn't wait to read. One student even said, \"It feels like my birthday came early!\"\r\n\r\nWe've already put the new books to great use. Recently, we kicked off a \"Reading Passport\" project where students \"travel\" to different genres and cultures through reading. Each student receives a passport and collects stamps as they complete books from categories like historical fiction, fantasy, and books by international authors. It's been a fun and educational way to encourage reading exploration while promoting literacy skills and cultural understanding.\r\n\r\nNext, we're diving into book clubs where small groups will read the same novel and engage in discussions, creative projects, and even dramatic reenactments. These new materials are helping us not just read more—but think more deeply, ask better questions, and express ourselves with greater confidence.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of our hearts—thank you. Your support has made a lasting impact on our classroom, and we're excited to continue this journey of discovery and learning with the wonderful books you helped provide.","fullyFundedDate":1746787163161,"projectUrl":"project/books-galore/9292626/","projectTitle":"Books Galore","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Pitts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8440520"},{"teacherId":4317802,"projectId":9092096,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed with the addition of magnetic letter tiles! My students and I have been using these resources daily to strengthen their reading skills in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nOne special moment that stands out was when a group of students who usually struggle with reading got to build words together using the tiles. Their faces lit up as they blended sounds to read a new word on their own. Having the letters right in front of them made the process concrete, and for the first time, they could see and touch the sounds they were blending.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the tiles, they were so excited—they couldn't wait to grab a handful and start making words. Many of them immediately began experimenting, building their names and simple words before we even began the lesson! Their curiosity and eagerness to learn have only grown since.\r\n\r\nThese resources are now a key part of our reading instruction. They allow students to practice decoding and encoding words in a tactile way, which is especially powerful for those who learn best through multi-sensory methods. As we move forward, my students will continue using the tiles to practice breaking apart and blending sounds, building their fluency, and gaining the confidence they need as readers.\r\n\r\nYour support is making a real difference for struggling readers who thrive on this kind of hands-on practice. I introduced the STEM materials during indoor recess and then they became a part of our morning routine and fun Friday activities. \r\nSTEM learning is so important for students in early childhood classrooms. It gives them a way to be creative and use critical thinking skills through play. The students see these activities as fun, but as I watch them I see them processing and learning new skills. \r\nOne day a group of students were using the straws and connectors and one student began manipulating the materials until he made a 3D shape. He showed it to the others, and they immediately tried to make one themselves. We had learned the attributes of these shapes in math and they were using what they learned to create their own. They started comparing their shapes and talking about how the shapes were the same and different.
