Because of your donation, we were able to replace the old bindings with new ones and put those snowboards back on the mountain.\r\n\r\nBeyond the equipment itself, students were genuinely excited to learn how to remove damaged bindings and properly install new ones. My students with severe intellectual disabilities have been learning to cook using various appliances. Having an electric skillet has enhanced my students' cooking skills by learning how to pan fry, saute, and deep fry various food items such as chicken, ground beef, potatoes, etc. They will also be beneficial for our May breakfast scheduled for early May, when they will learn how to cook all their breakfast favorites, i.e., scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, and pancakes. \r\n\r\nLearning to cook using an electric skillet is an excellent opportunity for students with severe intellectual disabilities to work on functional academic skills by creating hands-on learning experiences, as well as working on social skills, as they have to learn to communicate, work with one another, take turns, and use their manners. Having these electric skillets has helped to motivate my students by learning new recipes, which keep them engaged in a fun way. \r\n\r\nThe most important goal for every student who is in my classroom is to teach them to be as independent as possible by the time they graduate or exit high school. The students were very excited to learn that we received two brand new electric skillets through your generosity. Our materials for the cart finished arriving just in time for competition season, so students jumped right in to help get everything ready. They labeled and decorated the storage totes using the stickers and even designed and built custom brackets to securely hold the electrical strip on the cart. Seeing the cart come together as a functional, student-improved tool was a great moment for our team. We're excited to see it in action at competitions and outreach events—it's smooth as butter and has already saved our backs from a lot of unnecessary hardship.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, the reaction was pure excitement. It was a welcome and refreshing break from the stress of building and troubleshooting robots. Instead of pressure, the focus shifted to collaboration, problem-solving, and testing something new. Building and testing the cart together gave everyone a chance to step back, breathe, and enjoy a hands-on win that immediately made our work more efficient.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, this project has made a big impact on how we transport and organize our materials for competitions and outreach events. While the cart has significantly improved our portability, our robotics space itself is still a work in progress. We are currently split between two rooms, which makes full organization a challenge. Our next steps involve continuing to refine our robotics room with the long-term goal of bringing everything together into one well-organized, functional space where students can work, build, and learn more efficiently.","fullyFundedDate":1765139868013,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-innovation-our-robotics-power-c/9925186/","projectTitle":"Fueling Innovation: Our Robotics Power Cart Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vezina","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9730524_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y232&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764807643628","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kristengineering"},{"teacherId":9722943,"projectId":9913106,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contributions!
