Students are exploring ARC GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in art class. The goal is to create a teen friendly map of the community that includes businesses. The strategy we will use is to use the tablet and pen to recreate and simplify the local cartography of our inner city school's neighborhood. Students will apply geography to their world. ARC GIS has layers of maps, comprehensive data layers, and interesting analytical maps. It is visual and beautiful. Really, teens have little control over their environment yet a map gives them control and direction. We request two Samsung Tablets with pens that will help students create.
