We use the materials during our meetings and activities, giving students opportunities to connect, talk, and build a stronger sense of community.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also become a small but important part of our meetings. Sharing food helps students relax, connect with one another, and makes our club feel like a place where they belong. When students first saw the new supplies and snacks, they were excited and immediately began talking about how we could use them for upcoming meetings and activities.\r\n\r\nThese resources have helped make our GSA meetings more engaging and inviting. One memorable moment was seeing students work together to prepare and serve homemade cookies during the event while surrounded by artwork created by their classmates. The refreshments helped create a warm atmosphere that encouraged families and community members to spend more time viewing the displays and interacting with students about their artwork. Students were excited to see how their individual contributions helped make the show feel like a true community event.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials and supplies being used for the collaboration, they were enthusiastic about having the opportunity to contribute in different ways. Art students were proud to display their finished work in a professional setting, while Home Economics students enjoyed preparing/serving something that directly supported the event. Many students commented on how special it felt to have their work appreciated by visitors, staff, and families. The positive reactions and increased attendance helped students feel recognized for their creativity, effort, and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThe next steps for students include continuing to build connections between programs and expanding opportunities for collaboration during future art shows and school events. Art students are currently working on new projects that will be displayed at upcoming exhibits, while Home Economics students are exploring additional ways to contribute through presentation and hospitality. These novels gave students the opportunity to closely examine themes such as justice, bias, peer pressure, empathy, and the importance of using one's voice. Throughout the unit, students practiced critical thinking skills by analyzing character motivations, evaluating evidence, and participating in class discussions that challenged them to defend their opinions respectfully. The text also helped strengthen reading comprehension, inference, speaking, and writing skills as students connected the story's conflicts to real-world issues and their own experiences.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom is rarely silent and passive. Students annotate, ask questions, debate ideas, and collaborate with one another as we work through the text together. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching this novel has been watching students who are normally hesitant to participate become invested in the jury room debates and eager to share their perspectives. Several students connected deeply with the themes of fairness and being judged too quickly, which led to some incredibly thoughtful conversations. Having enough copies for students to actively engage with the text made a huge difference in both participation and confidence. Your support helped create an environment where students felt empowered to think critically, speak up, and see the value in their own voices.","fullyFundedDate":1766240806074,"projectUrl":"project/building-thinkers-not-just-readers/9963844/","projectTitle":"Building Thinkers, Not Just Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rippole","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8930172_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1673881818001","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8930172"},{"teacherId":211653,"projectId":10209623,"letterContent":"This was an amazing teacher appreciation week, thanks to you!
