It's been wonderful to see how engaged they are—students love being able to erase and try again without fear of making mistakes. They couldn't wait to start writing and drawing on their own boards. It was heartwarming to see how something so simple could make them feel like \"real writers.\" Our next step is to use the boards during small-group reading lessons, where students will build and write short words and sentences to strengthen their decoding and spelling skills. \r\n\r\nOur classroom has been buzzing with excitement during interactive literacy activities like CVC word building, sight word worksheets, and sentence matching. We revisited the book and then created American flags using finger paints.\r\nStudents were super excited to be able to craft the flag after learning how everyone came together after tragedy. They loved the dog exploring the event and everything was in easy, kid terms.\r\n\r\nI will be saving the lapel pins to pass out for Veteran's day. We will be reading the Veteran's Day book that day as well. We will be creating soldiers to give to the Army Reserves here in Pittsburgh.\r\n\r\nI can't tell you how happy I am to have these resources for students. Our students this year have been able to use ALL the new buckets and storage containers this year for centers. I was able to individually label boxes and put pictures on so students could keep items together that went together. \r\nThe biggest impact with organizing the magnetic blocks that students build with. 8 of the 10 little boxes went towards organizing that alone. We also had a place to put the new light table items!
